Basics for Light Microscopy, Ghent 12 May 2016

Microscopes are a basic laboratory tool but not everyone uses them to their full advantage. Using a combination of lectures and practical tutorials this one day course you will take you through the basic principles of good microscope use and you will be introduced to techniques that can help you do more than take pretty pictures.

Modern microscopy is moving towards functional studies in living cells and tissues and we will teach you what you can do and show you how to construct experiments using techniques such as FRET, FLIM, FRAP and super-resolution microscopy. We will finish with examples of how to present and analyze your data so that you can make the most of the resources available in the Bio Imaging Cores of VIB as well as your own laboratory.

This course is only open for VIB participants, and specifically targets lab technicians within VIB.
